Last week, I made my first ever Glossier purchase: ‘Glossier You.’
After months of hesitation and consideration of whether to buy or not to buy, I finally pulled the trigger. Glossier is one of the brands that is really good with their ad campaigns. I keep seeing ads from these models or ‘IT’ girls who have amazing skin and beautiful faces doing demo of their products. Who doesn’t want to have such natural beauty with minimal makeup and beautiful glow-y skin from within? I mean, that is what Glossier is all about or known for. I did not buy any skincare products but went straight to their first-ever perfume. Actually, I did get their best-selling Boy Brow, but review and photos will come later in another blog post.
Let’s talk about Glossier and many reasons why I genuinely love the brand and their first ever perfume, Glossier You, shall we?
‘Glossier You’ came in a pink bottle packaging with the personalized thumb indentation and a red cap (I love pink and red color combo!), a set of stickers (I’d totally use them in my bullet journal!), a bubble zip bag (perfect to use as a travel makeup bag), and the message it accompanied: ‘skin first. makeup second. smile always.’
I would have to say that ‘I was impressed!!!”
I tried on the perfume for a couple of days.
Fell in love.
Fell in love with it even more!
According to Glossier., Glossier You is the ULTIMATE PERSONAL FRAGRANCE.
3 major base notes:
_ambrette: comfy, warm
_ambrox: smooth, salty, animalistic
_musk: long-lasting, addictive
and a mix of top notes:
_iris root: earthy, green, woody
_pink pepper: spice, sparkling
*Perfumers: Frank Voelkl & Dora Baghriche
Ingredients: SD Alcohol 40-B (Alcohol Denat.), Parfum/Fragrance, Aqua/Water/Eau, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Farnesol, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene.
1.7 fl oz / 50 ml
As claimed by Glossier., Glossier You is ‘long-lasting and true to how it smells at the beginning,’ and it is ‘creamy, sparkling, clean, warm.’ The nozzle does not dispense even amount of product. It is quite watery every time I spitz, and it would wet a corner of my neck. The bottle contains only 1.7 fl oz/50 ml of liquid that I’m afraid I might run out in a month or so with daily use. I mean I would totally wear it on the daily since I truly love how it smells and how it makes me feel. It is not the longest lasting perfume I have ever owned, but it lingers on clothes. And I can definitely smell it days after. It smelled somewhat like Santal 33, like I am not even kidding. Of course, the two are not the same, but at least that was my first impression after the first spritz of ‘Glossier You.’
And as you know I have a series here on Style & Senses where I feature brands I love and dig some history and stories from the brand and share them with you. So here is how I have discovered this brand. More than a year ago, I listened to ‘Nasty Gal’ Sophia Amoruso’s #girlboss podcast episode featuring Emily Weiss, the founder of Glossier, here. From the podcast, I learned that Emily founded Into The Gloss way back in 2010 in her bedroom. A few years after, Into The Gloss became an editorial arm of Glossier, a skincare and makeup brand that almost broke the internet when they launched their Phase Sets. And ‘Glossier You’ was launched last year, 2017.
