One of my best girlfriends got married! Lots of happy tears were shed!!! Wishing you both many years of happiness and adventure, Yen and Dave!!!
Continued from my last post (here) when I was so honored to be asked by Yen, one of my very close girlfriends, to be her bridesmaid for her wedding. She married Dave this past weekend, August 22, 2016. It was quite one of the most beautiful, super casual but tons of fun, diverse and interactive weddings I’ve ever attended. The food though, needless to say, was the bomb!
Yen and I knew each other awhile back when we volunteered as youth leaders at local Catholic church here in St. Paul, MN. Yen left soon after she got promoted to be a leader due to her busy school and work schedule, but we’ve remained good friends ever since. We often find ourselves delved into long hours of super serious life topics. We enjoy and cherish each other friendship so much, genuinely.
THE DRESS DRAMA: Ok, most everyone who follows my Snapchat probably knows about my bridesmaid dress rant 2 days before the wedding date. About a week before that, my dress that I ordered came and turned out that I misunderstood her coloring scheme she was going for. So I bought a teal colored dress (picture below). And the tie (on top) was the color I was supposed to go for. I stressed myself over the dress color for weeks because I wasn’t sure what color it would be so that it would be between the 2 shades of the other bridesmaids’ dresses. Then I ordered 2 dresses, 2 different shades of blue, and a pair of silver heels from Lulu’s, but they came the Monday after the wedding! (I returned them right away because what’s the point anymore? Plus their clothing quality and fit were really iffy!). I then went to about 10 stores at a few malls near including the Wedding Shoppe and David’s Bridal but no luck. I ended up ordering a size 6 mint-colored dress online at a Jcrew store, paid $26 for overnight shipping late Friday night, and it came Monday, lmao!!! Seeing me stressing over a dress these days, my coworker suddenly told me about consignment shops, and one of them in the area was Bride To Be. I ran there and found a size 6 dress from the brand Bill Levkoff (as seen in the pictures above). I spent a whole Saturday morning till noon, about 3 hours, to fix the dress. I basically cut down half of the dress, down to size 0. It ended up looking great!!!
Regardless, this whole experience of being a bridesmaid was a lot of fun! I’ve made tons of new people and made a few friends. I’ve already added in the calendar of next year 2017 with 2 weddings of two other girlfriends, my age. Everyone, my age, literally is being engaged, getting married, and having kids. Like why? 🙁 They said once being a bridesmaid is always a bridesmaid, but we shall see! 🙂 Another bonus pic at the wedding reception: (I changed into the blue Reiss dress, one of my most proud purchase from a Reiss sample sale in New York!)
Thanks for reading this long post. Have a great rest of the week, everyone!
