February is my favorite month of the year for so many reasons. It’s the month of love. And as cliche’ as it sounds, I’m a fan of love. Valentine’s Day was on the 14th. I turned a year older on the 16th. I made a trip out to Colorado skiing the last weekend of February. I can’t help but include the whole trip to my favorites of this month, but I feel like this trip deserves a whole separate blog post. Let’s jump in the favorites, shall we?!
1. V-day and my birthday:
Life is worth celebrating, and of course, everyone should celebrate their birthdays. I stopped counting when the 25th mark was passed. Jk! Growing old is a privilege as I can guarantee that to you. I feel like I’ve grown way past the confusion time when I didn’t know what I wanted, wasn’t confident nor comfortable in my own skin. As you may or may not know, I’m in a long-distance relationship. My boyfriend and I tried to see each other this V-day and my birthday week, but it was more realistic that we saved it till Colorado. As you may or may not know, I’m in a long-distance relationship. My boyfriend and I tried to see each other this V-day and my birthday week, but it was more realistic that we saved it till Colorado. Literally midnight of the 13th, I DIYed some ‘coupon’ cards using the stamps and card papers I got from the Paper Source store, packaged the wood block + photo prints ordered from Artifact Uprising, and had them shipped overnight. There was nothing that I could ask for but seeing his happy face the whole time when he opened the package. I feel like in today’s world, being away sometimes gives us time and freedom to pursue things that we love in life and to progress in our career or job. When it comes to seeing each other, we make it an excuse to ‘travel’ places and spend quality time with each other. I think mine is progressive, very progressive. For my birthday this year, I didn’t want to go out but ended up inviting a few of my super close friends out last minutes. We went to Pizzeria Lola, had some delicious Brussel sprouts, pizzas, ice cream & cookie desserts. A few of us went to the Up-Down in uptown for some more drinks and games. My boyfriend wasn’t there, but I remembered him saying “happy birthday” to me like a hundred times that one week.

Also, friends that live half way across the globe didn’t forget mine either, well, thanks to Facebook. I received so many birthday wishes from co-workers, gifts from close ones, and a lot more… and I’m so grateful for that!
2. Aritzia scarf- The Babaton brand:
Since my birthday was 2 days after V’day, my boyfriend aimed at the day exactly in between. He noticed the last time we were in Aritzia in the U Village in Seattle, I was so drawn to this one scarf. I always said that all I wanted was that scarf, and he remembered to get me this gorgeous oversized nude scarf from his recent trip to Canada. This traveled nearly 3,000 miles just to be used once since the day I got it, hah blame the warm weather in the month of February! In case you don’t know, Aritzia is a Candian fashion boutique started in Vancouver, British Columbia, that sells in-house brands such as Wilfred, Wilfred Free, Le Fou by Wilfred, TNA, TNAction, Golden by TNA, Babaton, Talula, The Castings, Paradise Mine, Sunday Best and Community. In 2014, Aritzia introduced two handbag lines: SIXELEVEN and Auxiliary. Stores also carry clothing from labels such as Citizens Of Humanity, Mackage, Six Eleven, La Notte, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Nike, Levi’s, A Gold E, Havaianas, J Brand Jeans, Adidas, Herschel Supply Co. and Rag and Bone.
3. Love Me podcast: It’s a new podcast from the CBC that I found out on my phone’s podcast app while at work. The show highlights unique personal stories as well as playful fictions about the messiness of human connection. Don’t we all have that weird little voice inside each of us that cries out: “love me,” give it a listen to find out more. My favorites are The Family Portrait and I solemnly Swear.
You can listen to all episodes, season 1: here, or in the podcast app, simply search “Love me.”
4. Vero Monte’s Fishnet stockings:
When I did a search on Amazon for fishnet stockings, this brand always came up as the top one with the most ratings. I was pretty skeptical in following trends like this as well as purchasing fashion items on Amazon. However, I was really impresed that the socks came in 2 days (Amazon Prime) in a nice box, (picture below), and 4 pairs of different hole sizes for about $18 were a very good deal. Not to mention that the quality of these socks blew me away.
You can buy it, here!
5. Patagonia’s water bottle:
I received this as a birthday gift from my dear friend Joycelyn YP. And I’m not gonna lie it’s been by my side from home to work to home ever since. I just fill water up with some ice since we have a really nice ice making machine at work. Those that make 0.5 in ice cubes if you know what I’m talking about. The bottle was designed to house only normal to cold water, single-walled with a half circle twist to cap or uncap it. The cap also has a hole that fit an index finger, so it’s super convenient while driving because I can hold the bottle and the cap in one hand. Most importantly, it’s my first Patagonia item ever! Love love the vintage logo as well!!!
I couldn’t find the exact design, but similars are here!
Thank you so much for reading!
