I was so flattered when Almina Concept’s founder, Angela, personally reached out to me last year. In her email, she introduced herself as an ex-New Yorker who worked as a merchandiser at Club Monaco and O’2nd and most recently at Loewe. She did offer me a code to purchase anything for 25%. I bought a camel sweater and a grey T-shirt, and they have remained my favorite basic pieces. And I’ve been eyeing their new-ins every seasons ever since.
Almina Concept, as introduced by Angela, is a contemporary modern womenswear brand. They launched in August 2017 and is based out of LA. Almina offers modern basics that are trendy yet timeless at affordable price point. Everything is made in Korea.
I have been looking for a perfect wool brown oversized blazer to add to my A/W wardrobe for quite a while now. And when I saw this Wool Blazer went live on the Almina website, I knew right away that I had to get it. Its retail price was $288, a little steep compared to many blazers out there on the high-street. Couple days before my trip to New York, I decided to reach out to Angela by email letting her know that I had been eyeing that blazer. She quickly got back to me and kindly offered me a 25% discount code, and I bought it within a heartbeat. I brought it along my Oregon Coast trip with Headlands, styled it with a pair of matching colored boots (gifted by Italeau), a cozy cream colored turtleneck and a pair of black skinny jeans.
At some angles, the blazer does look really big on me, but it looks so cool in person. It feels so special and different from many other blazers I’ve seen. It is ‘handmade in Korea’ and made from 100% wool, hence, it justifies the price. There are two front buttons, drop shoulder and peak lapel features. I love the two front pockets as well. Please note that the blazer is only one-size. It is very over-sized on me (I’m an XS-S/0 in most tops, but it still looks so cool on!), so I’m sure it will fit many sizes up. Say hi to Angela for me if you ever decide to buy anything from her store as she would appreciate it. *I’m saving money towards this sweater, this sweater, and this sweater. I love the clean and light aesthetic the brand images are. The quality of the fabric and attention to every design detail are there. And it just keeps getting better and better.
