Capsule Wardrobe Diary – January 2020

It’s here, and I’m finally doing it: My Capsule Wardrobe Diary. I find that capsule wardrobe in a video form seems too intimidating because I feel like I don’t have many good pieces to showcase it all in one video. Letting alone, making it a consistent series in the long term. In addition, I tend to shop sales, so things will most likely be sold out by the time the video goes up. And if you know me, I never want you guys to feel like you have to go get what I recommend you immediately. So with this, I want you to sit back and pull some inspiration from how and why I choose to buy and keep something, think classic long-line quality pieces, so a Capsule Wardrobe monthly diary – one post a month makes the most sense!

So for January 2020, I only have one thing new in my wardrobe that I want to talk about. It’s this gorgeous smocked midi dress from & Other Stories, a total dupe of the $900 silk and linen Toteme dress. Also, I found this 100% linen dress from Toteme‘s newest collection, and it is the closest match yet cheaper than the other one. And can’t you tell I’m a little obsessed with Toteme at the moment? I love their take on classic tailored pieces (things that you’d see your stylist grandma wears, kinda!) and put their spin on the silhouette and fits with emphasis on neutrals. If you scroll through their collection, you’d get a pretty good idea of what I’m talking about here! In fact, I made a sneaky purchase the last hours of the SSENSE’ winter sale and bought these Toteme trousers for 30% off and this Toteme shirt for almost 50% off. So excited to see how they fit, and I’m sure you’d get to see how I style them soon!

And yes, take my words for this! You will get to see me wearing this dress again, and the reason why I want to make this dress the first piece to add into my Capsule Wardrobe this 2020 is of course because it’s a Little Black Dress. I love the high neckline, midi length, ruffled cuffs and how it hugs my body so perfectly. The smocked detailing is totally inspired by the two Toteme dresses I’ve talked about above. I posted it here, and you guys seem to really like it!
