My Blogging Story

If you click through all of my previous blog posts, you might be able to find my first ever post, dated in March of 2016. Up until about a little more than a year ago, blogging started to become something I told myself that I wanted to put the all-of-me in, then things started to take off.

It sounds quite desperate, but it was true, at least, for my case!

Ever since I was little, I had always found myself sketching and drawing things, cutting papers and fabrics to make clothes from my dolls, and found myself so drawn into fashion shows on TV. I wasn’t born nor grew up being surrounded by many creative people nor having the fashion influence so that passion of mine was pushed slightly away. But deep down, I knew that growing up I wanted to do something fashion-related, designing some sort of clothes, and putting my name on them. I still do, one day, want to have my own brand, a clothing brand most likely.

Fashion and photography go hand-in-hand as I am sure you all know about it. Two years ago when I had Style & Senses up and running, I still did not know how or what I wanted to blog about. Of course, I wanted to do fashion and posted about my outfits. I did not work with a photographer nor do I own a DSLR camera at the time, so keeping up with consistent blogging and quality photos were impossible at the time. I occasionally went out to shoot outfits with a few friends, but I found it difficult to communicate and schedule a free date to shoot with them. So I ended up blogging whenever I felt like or could be able to. I struggled for quite awhile.

Remember when I said Style & Senses was born in 2016, but I didn’t start it seriously just about a year ago? My partner and I started dating for about 6 months before I knew I wanted him to help with photography. In case you don’t know, my partner is a photographer, and he does 98% of the photography on my blog and my Instagram. I remembered that I got quite emotional that night when we Facetimed each other (he lived in Kansas city, and I lived in Minnesota at the time!) and I said that I wanted this blogging thing so badly! Ever since that day, he made sure I had photos to post.

I ended up asking my cousin to take my photos, shared the photos on Google drive, and had my partner edit them. It was seriously so much work! We would often exchange ideas and editing styles I wanted them to be. It was vague and confusing I’ve got to tell you. We would often argue, and things get misunderstood. He moved to Seattle about a year before I went out here. And that has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. This also makes it a lot easier for us to communicate our ideas and work harder and better!

I shared reasons why I moved, here.

Overall, it has taken me my whole life till this point to know that this is what I want to do. Of course, blogging did not exist in the early 90s, but I knew that I wanted to do something that was fashion-related ever since. And even when I knew I wanted to blog and had my partner’s help with photos, I still did not know how and what I could do. I just did what I thought I could and made something out of what I had within my ability. Blogging is not the ultimate goal of why I do what I do, but I see it more as a start of my journey to my fashion dream ever since I was a little girl.

And If you have noticed, I have created a new sub-category under the Lifestyle category, titled ‘Personal,’ and from here, you can easily find posts I share my stories and personal experience, thoughts, and feelings about anything I find relevant. See these ‘personal’ posts as an inspiration after all. I hope you get to know me a little better as a person and a blogger friend. Through my personal stories, I hope you will find the courage to go after what you want in life. Life is short, so go make dreams a reality!!!

** Also shout out to many of you who are new whether you have randomly clicked on to my blog or were recommended by someone or some brands that have featured my photos, welcome! I hope to catch up with you all very soon and thanks for the follow and reading my blog! My photos got reposted here, here, and here, and I was pretty sure that was why I had gained quite a few followers on my Instagram over the weekend!

Read my blog post, here, to see why numbers don’t really matter to me. But it is nice knowing that so many of you enjoy my content that I work so hard for! Thanks again for stopping by! Talk soon!

This was such a fascinating post to read. I find myself in the same boat where I didn’t know what I wanted to do or blog about when I first started and it all sort of figured itself out over time. Your story of being long distance with your boyfriend and having to work through photo edits remotely is so inspiring and truly shows how much you’ve dedicated to reaching your goal. So happy to support you always, especially because you have some of the most honest and unique content that is truly enjoyable to follow.
