about Organic Basics

Organic Basics is a Copenhagen-based brand that specializes in underwear, loungewear, and activewear.

I love that Organic Basics clearly sets high standards for their materials, production, and their entire sustainable model. All of those reflect on their beautiful website, and I truly love their products and their minimal and clean Scandi-branding.

These are how Organic Basis reduce their impact. Organic Basics:

  1. Use certified materials that reduce environmental footprint but have lifetime durability. Organic Basics only use Class A and B fibers and the most responsible fabric and technology available: natural, renewable, recycled, biodegradable, and/or low-impact textiles. Now, their collections include organic cotton, recycled nylon, TENCEL Lyocell, recycled wool, SilverTech, recycled cashmere, and seamless knitting.
  2. Partner with CHOOSE – an organization that makes businesses and individuals carbon balanced by investing in UN verified or Gold standard CO2 reducing projects in developing countries. Learn more about it, here.
  3. Is a B-corp meaning Organic Basics belong to a group of businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
  4. Has recently joined 1% for the Planet, committing to giving 1% of gross sales each year to approved nonprofit partners.

By now, I hope you’ve got some ideas on Organic Basics’ business model. Let’s jump right into their product review!

REVIEW TENCEL™ Lite Bralette & Tanga Thong

Quick reminder about TENCEL™:

TENCEL is an eco-friendly fiber that is sustainably sourced from wood pulp.

These wood pulps come from fast-growing Aspen and Birch trees that are planted on low-grade land in central European forests. Compared to conventional cotton and traditional industry practices, these trees take less than 80% of water to grow, and the process to produce these fibers also needs fewer chemicals and saves more CO2.

TENCEL™ Lite Bralette

This is my most favorite bralette that I own thus far!

TENCEL™ Lite Bralette in Dusty Rose

In recent years, I have completely ditched the uncomfortable push-ups and underwired bras. So glad I did because I’ve discovered so many cool and amazing comfy bra options out there!

SIZE & FIT: I am a 32B in most bras and wear the TENCEL™ Lite Bralette in size XS. And it fits me perfectly!

COMFORT: 5/5, and that is all thanks to the incredibly soft TENCEL fabric.

I’ve opted for the Dusty Rose color because I just want something different than the traditional black or nude color. White will be cute for photos, but honestly, white underwear is too high maintenance for me!

I love a good triangle bra like this, and I think the cutout bit in the front is quite unique. The Organic Basics branding on the elastic band is pretty subtle, and I think it’s done right, very stretchy, not too thick nor too tight on at all. In addition, the straps are adjustable, they feel so nice on. I wear this type of bra underneath everything these days, and it just feels like I have nothing on.

Honestly, this TENCEL material is even better than the Everlane bralette (it used to be my top favorite!). Now this TENCEL™ Lite Bralette clearly takes the spot!

TENCEL™ Lite Tanga 2-pack

TENCEL™ Lite Tanga in Dusty Rose

SIZE & FIT: I’m a 25 in jeans and wear most bottoms in size XS/S depending on brands and styles.

Note that the TENCEL™ Lite Tanga is Organic Basics’ thong style, and it comes in a 2-pack. They also have the brief version, here. Both of the Tanga and Brief look very similar at the front, except the back. Personally, I love to wear briefs to sleep but would prefer thongs under most of my going-out clothes.

There is only one complain here, and that is because the Tanga I got are a little bit too big on me. I could really go for an XS instead of S. In the email with the brand, I did ask for an XS or S, and not sure why I received the bra in XS and two undies in S.

COMFORT: 4.5/5. I can still wear the Tanga, so the 4.5 point rating is mainly because of the fact that the fabric is too thin for undies for me personally.

The TENCEL material and the fit (if it were the right size) are incredible, don’t get me wrong. However, because it’s so soft and thin, my hair down there often peeks through. I shave and trim it very often, so this really happens to almost all invisible seamless nylon and spandex undies that I have as well. I will let it get pass if I know I will not be wearing something too tight or constricting.

I still love these TENCEL™ Lite Tanga so much because they are so well made, soft, and comfortable! Get the set if you’re someone who likes to match, but I hardly ever match mine. I personally prefer cotton undies with some elastane for stretch because I need mine to me a little thicker and a little more coverage.

I hope that this review is helpful. Note that if you’re shopping from the US, their shipping can take a while. But good things are worth the wait, you know!

Organic Basics is a great sustainable and ethical brand that I totally vibe with and recommend! Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section below. Be sure to use my code and let me know what you end up purchasing! Have a great productive week, and thank you for reading!
